Hon Mun: marine protected area for snorkelling and diving
Updated October 28, 2026 · 5 min read
Hon Mun is the reef-focused stop in Nha Trang Bay, but a ticket is not a promise of perfect coral or visibility. Conditions vary with rain, swell and the exact mooring chosen that day.
Snorkelling or diving?
Snorkelling works over shallow sites and needs no diving certificate. The Hon Mun marine-park and island tour lasts seven hours and starts at €33.03. Scuba reaches deeper sites, but beginners need an instructor and certified divers should show their qualification.
Do not touch or stand on coral, feed fish or remove shells. Follow the crew’s briefing and use the designated entry point. If weather or conservation management closes a site, a responsible operator substitutes another; that is preferable to anchoring on a stressed reef.
Before booking
Confirm whether the named route actually enters the protected area, whether equipment and fees are included, and how much time is allocated in the water. Poor swimmers should ask about a life jacket and direct supervision. For most snorkellers, the dedicated Hon Mun day is a clearer choice than a party boat.
